Sepulveda Transit Corridor

Metro is conducting a Feasibility Study to identify and evaluate a range of high-capacity rail transit alternatives between the San Fernando Valley and LAX, including connections to existing and planned Metro bus and rail lines, including the Orange, Purple, and Expo Lines.

Background

The natural barrier created by the Santa Monica Mountains means that most people traveling between the San Fernando Valley, the Westside, and Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) are funneled primarily onto the I-405 Freeway, already ranked as one of the most traveled urban highways in the nation.

Project Acceleration

Under Metro’s 28 by 2028 initiative, the Valley-Westside portion of the project is identified as a candidate for accelerated completion by the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Los Angeles (LA 2028).

Valley for Transit strongly supports expediting this project through a public-private partnership (P3), which  offers the potential for greater innovation and flexibility with reduced risk and cost.

Provide Your Input

Metro is conducting a survey to gather more information about commuters who travel across the Sepulveda Pass.
