convert the orange line to light rail

The Orange Line is  an 18-mile Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) corridor running from Chatsworth to North Hollywood, where it connects to the Red Line subway.

A victim of its own success, growing ridership has made the line overcrowded and slow. Conversion to light rail is the best choice now to improve what has become the Valley's transit backbone.

Metro Orange Line Improvements: Crossing Gates & Bridge

Measure M provides up to $286 million to further improve the Orange Line in the short term.

Valley for Transit strongly supports the installation of railroad-style crossing gates along the entire corridor and the construction of a bridge from Van Nuys to Sepulveda Boulevards.

Crossing gates will increase speed and reduce travel time with minimal impact to passengers and Valley residents, as well as lay the groundwork for the Orange Line's conversion to light rail.
